About my work

Recently I have become more aware of Death, and the emotional journey that the living walk during bereavement. Having experienced death of loved ones, I have learned that there are stages to this journey of grief.

Firstly there is the initial shock of the death, shown in the first painting of the Triptych.

This is followed by the complex body of grief, which is different for every individual, and therefore will give no further explanation of these stages. I represented this in the second painting.

Finally, as an individual reaches the end of their journey, there is change of mindset about the world and their place in it. I think getting to know death allows for a change in mind set. This can lead to faith, spirituality and religion. I have represented these final stages in the third painting.
